Hellweg Radio Baths Route

The Hellweg Radio Baths Route opens up a characteristic natural landscape characterized by meadows, fields and waters. It connects three spas, whose attractive spa parks and diverse health, activity and wellness offers are an integral part of the experience. Numerous cultural and historical sights such as sacred buildings and historic half-timbered houses are revealed along the route. The tour presents a harmonious combination of rural idyll and urban impressions. A variety of refreshment stops are available to experience the regional hospitality. The route is designed to be ridden as a complete circuit or in individually selectable stages. The route is characterized by a moderate topographical profile and runs mainly on dedicated cycle paths or asphalted farm tracks away from the primary traffic network. It is also designed as a section of the Westfälische Salzroute. The route begins in Bad Sassendorf, passes through various villages along the Hellweg to Bad Westernkotten and on to Bad Waldliesborn before returning to its starting point in Bad Sassendorf. It crosses rivers such as the Lippe and the Boker Canal. The route is lined with cultural and architectural attractions. These include historic chapels and churches in the communities it passes through, important city buildings in Lippstadt such as the town hall and St. Mary's Church, as well as Schloss Erwitte and other local sights.

A rescue point system has been installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerlandkreis, Märkischer Kreis, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found on the information boards at the junctions of the Südwestfalen cycle network.

You can easily reach Bad Sassendorf with the RB89, the "Ems-Börde-Bahn", which runs between Münster and Warburg (via Altenbeken, Paderborn, Salzkotten, Geseke, Lippstadt, Soest, Hamm). The local trains run every 30 minutes from Monday to Friday and every 60 minutes from 8 p.m. to midnight. The nearest IC or ICE train stations are Soest and Lippstadt or Hamm and Münster. Bad Sassendorf is a stopping point. Tickets are available from the ticket machines on the trains or from travel agencies. Some hosts will be happy to pick you up from the station.

From the Ruhrgebiet or from Kassel via the Dortmund Kassel highway (A 44) to the Soest-Ost/Bad Sassendorf exit. From the direction of Berlin/Hanover via the highway (A 2) to the Wiedenbrück exit, then via Lippstadt-Erwitte (B 1) to Bad Sassendorf.
