The “Historic Town Centers” bike route is a long-distance circular bike trail. It leads to the historic town centers of Warendorf, Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Rietberg, Lippstadt, Soest, Werl, Werne, Steinfurt, and Tecklenburg. Narrow alleys, half-timbered gables, churches, clusters of houses, and organic streetscapes characterize the towns along the route. Each town center has its own distinct character: historic architecture stands alongside newer elements, and urban spaces alternate with natural and scenic features. Impressive gabled buildings evoke the medieval heyday of trade routes, while art and churches offer further glimpses into bygone eras. There are places to stop for refreshments along the route.

Directions

Follow the route signs for historic town centers from e.g. Rheda-Wiedenbrück and you will reach the historic town centers of Rietberg, Lippstadt, Soest, Werl, Werne, Steinfurt, Tecklenburg and Warendorf. Of course, the tour can also be started in all other towns.
