Directions

Starting from the railroad station at an altitude of 585 m, the tour first takes us down to the town center, past the Linnenkerl monument, in the direction of Usseln. We again take a side road, turning right after the viaduct towards the village of Stryck, before reaching Usseln via a cycle path parallel to the main road. There, at an altitude of 640 m, we turn right towards Medebach and get an impression of theSähre/Osterkopf massif to the left and the Pön group to the right on the continuing mountain road. After a "terrain wave", we soon reach the descent (12% gradient) to Düdinghausen, where we turn off onto a small side road to Welleringhausen.Welleringhausen is over 1000 years old and is dominated by a Romanesque church. We continue towards Bömighausen, another district of Willingen, where we turn north (left) at the bathing and fishing lake to head towards Neerdar or Schweinsbühl.We already know this route in the opposite direction from the tour "Around the Willingen mountain massif" and cycle approx. 1 km on the main road in the direction of Neerdar/Willingen.After the turn-off to Schweinsbühl and Deisfeld, the route takes on an alpine character with ascents (serpentines) and descents. The 2 km long, very steep descent to Deisfeld offers another beautiful view of the Willingen mountains, Sähre and the surrounding Upland mountain ranges. Caution is advised, as the downhill section leads into Deisfeld with a stop sign. From there, we continue for approx. 8 km along the Diemel via Giebringhausen to the Stormbrucher bridge before Heringhausen. This "rolling along" conveys an indescribable feeling of elation: only kilometers of gentle ski runs from the Ettelsberg or Sonnenlift in Willingen are comparable. We return to Willingen via the Stormbrucher bridge. Upland with its mountain ranges lies ahead of us: We slowly approach Ottlar in order to tackle the 2 km long and 12% steep ascent to the Kuckelsberg (popularly known as "Kuckuck") behind the village. The straight road forces us to pedal a small gear ratio. At the apex (the path branching off to the Dommel tower), you should put on a windproof vest before descending at breakneck speed to Rattlar and Schwalefeld. At the end of Rattlar, we have another unobstructed view of the imposing Hoher Eimberg and Treis massifs on a flat stretch of road - thanks to Kyrill - before reaching Schwalefeld after a steep descent. It is only 2 km to Willingen. At the Linnenkerl monument or in the other pubs on the main road, we have the opportunity to review the tours we have covered over a lemonade before taking a long-awaited shower in our accommodation.
