Cycling Through History and Nature

The 114-kilometer-long “Steine und Mehr” bike route is a joint project of the municipalities of Geseke, Anröchte, and Warstein. At a total of 33 stops, you’ll discover fascinating stories about limestone—a rock that has shaped the region for centuries.

There are plenty of sights to see: You’ll cycle right along the edges of active quarries, encounter art installations in abandoned areas, and catch a glimpse of restored quarry sites where nature is reclaiming its space.

Whether you follow the 114-kilometer-long main route or explore the three sub-routes one by one—each tour offers unique insights and varied experiences.

The “Steine und Mehr” project was developed as part of the Südwestfalen Regionale 2013 initiative and is funded by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy, Industry, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, and Crafts of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
