The Alte Mühle - Frettermühle in Finnentrop, historically used as a bakery and mill, has been a power generator and display facility since 1989. It can be opened for tours and events on request.
The Alte Mühle - Frettermühle, which operated as both a bakery and a mill until 1983, ceased full operation, after which the water wheel and grinding mills were only used for the mill's own needs. In 1989, the descendants of the last miller, Otto Jagemann, initiated a significant transformation through extensive work and innovative technical adaptations. Since then, the mill has been used to generate electricity, with the power generated being fed into the regional grid. The historic grinding mills have been preserved; their functionality can be reactivated in just a few simple steps so that one of the two grinding gears operates in the traditional way. The open presentation of the second grinding gear provides an insight into the complex mechanics of the stone interior. The plant also has a modern roller mill, a top peeling machine and a specially designed bag elevator, which document the technological development. In 1995, a former café space was established, which now functions as a registry office room and is available for events on request.
