Like many works of art in Bad Sassendorf, the Bonifatius Fountain on Karl-Volke-Platz references the town’s salt history and is part of the historic “Sassendorf Salt Trails.”
At Karl-Volke-Platz, the fountain designed by Bonifatius Stirnberg depicts the history of salt in Bad Sassendorf. Among other things, it features a salt boiler, salt workers, a salt graduation tower, and a salt basket—a reference to the historical processing and transport of salt.
