Gipfelstürmer - over the height of the Ebbekamm

The "Gipfelstürmer - über die Höhe des Ebbekamms" circular tour is an outstanding cycling experience in the region. The route starts in Meinerzhagen and, after an initial passage through the town, leads to Willertshagen, which acts as a gateway to the Ebbegebirge. The route leads uphill on well-maintained forest paths. There are remarkable differences in altitude to overcome, which are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Ebbe ridge. The route then follows the mountain ranges, with an optional detour to Nordhelle marking the highest point of the tour. After a dynamic descent followed by moderate climbs, there are various opportunities for a culinary break in Valbert. The return to the starting point takes you through the picturesque landscape of the Sauerland Rothaargebirge Nature Park. The route is characterized by significant elevation profiles, which make the experience a physically demanding undertaking. It is a tour that focuses on the intensive experience of the low mountain range landscape of the Sauerland.

The use of good trekking and cross bikes is recommended. The tour is not suitable for racing cyclists due to the partly unpaved paths. The tour is not aimed at sporty mountain bikers!

The ride through the Ebbegebirge is on well-maintained forest paths or asphalted forest roads. Due to logging work, the surface is damaged in places, so care must be taken, especially on descents.

Meinerzhagen station can be reached via the RB 25 Cologne-Meinerzhagen line.

Access by car via the BAB 45 exit Meinerzhagen, continue on the B 54 in the direction of Meinerzhagen Zentrum/Bahnhof.

At Meinerzhagen train station, better at Schützenplatz. Free parking is available there.
