Plettenberg: AquaMagis Tour with Verse Dam

The AquaMagis Tour with Verse Dam in Plettenberg is a versatile circular route. It starts on the Lenne cycle path near the AquaMagis adventure pool, leads leisurely along the Lenne, then follows the Else through the center of Plettenberg. After a moderate climb before Köbbinghausen, the museum station of the Märkische Museumseisenbahn offers a rest stop. A topographically more challenging section follows around Herscheid, with various places to eat and drink. The route reaches the Versetalsperre dam, the upper reaches of which are reached after a continuous ascent towards Ober-Holte. Refreshments are provided in Nieder-Holte before the route runs along the banks of the dam. At the dam wall of the Verse Reservoir, the cycle path turns off, overcomes rising terrain on the Silberg and leads down to the bottom of the reservoir. The route passes the Treckinghausen waterworks, which is important for the regional water supply, as well as the Versetal trout farm along the Verse. From Oberbrüninghausen, the athletic challenge intensifies with multiple, sometimes steep climbs, with descents that lead through districts to the Lenne crossing to Werdohl. From Werdohl, the cycle path follows the road and runs through the Kettling industrial area along the railroad line. A short section of main road requires increased attention. The path then leaves the main roads, crosses the railroad and the Lenne again and meanders through the valley back to Plettenberg. After a final ascent after the Lenne bridge in Ohle, the tour ends at the AquaMagis adventure pool.
