Information

Directions

We start from Willingen in the direction of Korbach. After Usseln, we cycle approx. 15 km downhill towards Bömighausen. In the Willingen district of Bömighausen, we leave the main road and cycle through the valley until shortly before Eppe. This is followed by the first climb up to the village of Goldhausen. As the name suggests, gold used to be mined here. From there, we have a quick descent down to Nordenbeck. Several district roads lead us to Dorfitter, where we have to cycle a short distance on the main road towards Frankenberg.Shortly after a level crossing, a beautiful serpentine path leads up to Obernburg, past an old estate - Hof Lauterbach - and then through the typical landscapes of Waldecker Land to Edersee. The Edersee is one of the largest reservoirs in Germany with a winding shoreline road. From here, the route climbs steeply up to the village of Waldeck with its castle. The first lake is passed and we cycle fairly flat via Freihenhagen through a deciduous forest to Landau. The Twistesee area begins. We cross the Twistesee and cycle to Wetter. From now on, there are more hills again. It goes up to Bad Arolsen, where there is also a castle (a replica of the Palace of Versailles), then further up to Massenhausen. After Adorf, it's time to relax a little. Then it's over the mountain to the lake: Diemelsee, the second largest lake on our lake tour. We cycle around it on the lakeside road, which is narrowed by rocks - similar to the lakeside road on Lake Garda. We cycle over the barrier wall, then it's only slightly uphill to the finish in Willingen.

Equipment

We recommend functional, weather-appropriate cycling clothing, rucksack provisions, sufficient fluids (water, tea), air pump, repair kit and multi-tool.
