Café Blaubeere represents the last remaining section of the former boiling hut. This historic facility extended over the entire area of today's Haus Rosenau and included up to nine boiling pans for salt extraction. A striking feature of this boiling hut was the bell tower, the ringing of which indicated the shift change and which was referred to by the people of Sassendorf as "the bell ringer". Sassendorf's historic salt seal is present at this significant location; it adorns the door of today's Café Blaubeere. Located in the middle of Bad Sassendorf's pedestrian zone, surrounded by old trees, the café offers visitors homemade cakes, fresh tarts, selected coffee specialties as well as pancake specialties and freshly squeezed fruit juices. Where salt was once boiled, visitors can now experience Westphalian hospitality.
