Café Blaubeere is the last remaining part of the former salt-boiling hut, which once occupied the entire site of today’s Haus Rosenau. It contained up to nine boiling pans. A distinctive feature was a bell tower that announced shift changes and was called “der Läutnant” by the residents of Sassendorf. Sassendorf’s historic salt-merchant seal is located on the door of today’s Café Blaubeere, which offers its own homemade treats.
